Let’s Begin

DSC_1496jul3This photo represents a goal for me. Beartooth Lake. We’ve stayed at this Heaven on Earth a couple of times, and, well, it’s our Heaven on Earth! James and I have this little germ of a dream… to be volunteer campground hosts at the Beartooth Lake Campground. We would greet campers, collect campsite fees, tidy up the sites after campers leave, educate campers about bear awareness and safety. And clean the campground latrines. Ok, so that part’s not so awesome, but not all gigs are perfect, eh? In our off time we would fish, (well, he would fish) take pictures, (well, I would take pictures) and explore the surrounding area, glorious, beautiful area.

In addition to doing the camp host thing, I’ve long had a notion to do a little coffee table book of wildflower photos. Something like “A Wildflower Enthusiast’s Adventures, Complete with Stories and Amateur Photography”.  I love long titles. Each flower would be represented with at least 3 photos; one up close, one of the whole plant, that would show the leaf shapes and arrangement, and one of the plant in its environment, (stream side, mountainside, wooded area…). Plus there will be a text description of where/how I happened on the flower. Nice, huh? It won’t have all of the flowers of the region, just the ones I come across while there. But I’ll be there for the whole summer, so…

But here’s the deal: for the last few years I’ve had a series of somewhat serious illnesses that kind of way-layed me. I won’t go into details here, but the trauma on my body caused by both disease and some of the medications left me in some pain, and with little energy and stamina. Some of the nerve damage may be permanent, and I will have to be careful to not do any more damage, (I’m such a delicate flower) but I believe i can build some stamina and strength. Starting today. This. Very. Day.

Here’s the plan:

  1. Meditate every day. Affirm affirm affirm!
  2. Treadmill several time/week, starting with 10 minutes, and working my way up to more minutes, more days…
  3. Swim on the days I don’t walk
  4. Continue to eat healthy
  5. Take care of the last, (Oh God I hope the last!!) little health issues. This may mean a pretty major surgery in my near future, but we’ll get through that, too
  6. Blog about it. Every day. My thoughts, activities, goals…

I began this morning with a nice, healthy breakfast, a 20 minute WingWave session, and a 10 minute walk. And we’re off!
